Hi, my name is Louise, and together with my husband and two children,
we own Gray's American Bulldogs.
We live on a 20 acre property, located on the Yorke Peninsula, South Australia.
We were first introduced to the American Bulldog in 1998
when friends of ours owned a male and female.
We were immediately impressed by their big heads, size, strength,
their temperament, and loyal nature.
This is when we bought our first American Bulldog (see photo below).
Many years ago, while looking for another American Bulldog puppy,
we were researching bloodlines, breeders etc., we could see their was
a need for more responsible breeding such as health testing for
Hip/Elbow Dysplasia, NCL (Neurological Disorder), and DNA profiling.
We health test, temperament test and field test
all our dogs before breeding them.
We "do not" or "will not" breed un-health tested dogs.
This includes testing for Hip and Elbow Dysplasia, NCL, Ichthyosis,
OFA Cardiac, OFA Patellas, and DNA profiling.
This sort of Health Testing is rarely done in Australia.
(Please read our Buyer Beware page for more information on Health Testing).
We are dedicated and doing our best to breed healthy American Bulldogs
with good conformation and stable temperaments.
Our aim is to continually improve the quality of our dogs and
along the way breed good quality family members for pet homes.
We have spent a lot of time researching and sourcing the
best bloodlines to bring into our kennel.
We pride ourselves in being friendly, contactable, and supportive to our buyers.
Majority of the pups we produce are placed in family homes
so we concentrate on breeding medium drive type pups.
We find this type of puppy is more suitable to a family environment,
as they are easier for pet owners to manage, with a decent amount of proper training.
We do not breed high drive type of pups as they tend to be too much
for the average family pet owner to handle.
High drive pups require a lot of work and they can become a problem later on,
when they get older, if the owner is not educated and experienced in training
and handling those type of dogs.
We get asked a lot if we own or breed Johnson American Bulldogs.
Many people in Australia classify American Bulldogs as either Johnson or Scott.
Johnson and Scott are actually bloodlines and not a "type" of bulldog.
We own and breed the "bully" or "classic" type of bulldog.
(Please read our Breed Standard page for more information on breed types).
We have imported semen from both American and European
Champion titled studs/bloodlines.
We have big plans for the future of our kennel and care for the
future of the American Bulldogs.
We are local & International Breeders
as have dogs bred by us living in every state of Australia and also worldwide.
Over the years we seen many Breeders come & go....
but we are proud to be one of the longest standing Breeders in Australia.
We are dedicated and intend to be around for many years to come.
We endeavour to breed to Breed Standard and keep our dogs true to type.
i.e. we do not breed for colour or breed designer dogs.
The American Bulldog is a versatile breed that can be trained to do almost anything.
This includes guard work, hunting, farm work, and they are also gentle and loving family pets.
Our dogs are family pets, work on our farm, and also guard our property when needed.
We work/exercise our dogs everyday on our property.
This includes running, walking, swimming, rope work, flirt pole, fetch, and training.
Our dogs are fit and healthy dogs.
